SUNSET PARK LIBRARY

RED HOOK LIBRARY

EAST FLATBUSH LIBRARY

We designed three renovations for the Brooklyn Public Library: Sunset Park Library, Red Hook Library, and East Flatbush Library. These projects focused primarily on updating the Brooklyn Public Library’s book processing procedures and workspaces to support the modern self-service systems being implemented by the Brooklyn Public Library, as well as ensuring that work areas and equipment are all ADA compliant. In conjunction with the Brooklyn Public Library, we investigated and created options for process arrangements and flows. The goals for the reconfigurations included improving the self-service functions in order to reduce staff workload, updating the workrooms to streamline the workflow, and featuring pre-ordered “HOLD” books as well as high demand books more prominently. Within the public portion of the library, we also created a physical presence that fits with the evolving reference role and new technology support role (TRS), as well as the Express Check station.
