For DIFFA annual gala, we partnered with Material Bank to deliver an installation that embodies the same principles that Material Bank itself stands for. The installation is 100% recyclable - created from Material Bank shipping boxes and samples. The installation is held together by the repurposed Velcro box straps linked together vertically. Each individual box contains a curation of the wide range of materials featured on Material Bank, presented in a spectrum of colors. We like to imagine that collectively, they demonstrate strength, diversity, and inclusivity.
Specifying materials from renewable sources, with low embodied energy and verified ethical labor throughout the supply chain help create a more sustainable and equitable world. Slade Architecture supports the Design for Freedom movement. By sampling on Material Bank, the design community has saved almost 2 million packages from being shipped. Material Bank combines samples from multiple brands into a single box, reducing waste and our industry’s carbon footprint.
